Jeu glacé
La neige tombait à gros flocons, recouvrant la forêt d'un épais manteau blanc ; tout ce que James désirait précisément à cet instant n’était pas d’admirer ce paysage enchanteur mais plus exacement de se réchauffer devant un feu ouvert en profitant du confort de leur petit cabanon. Malheureusement, Jessie en avait décidé autrement.
« La neige, la neige, j'adore la neige! »
La jeune femme espiègle avait forcé ses deux compagnons à l'accompagner dans le froid de l’hiver pour jouer avec elle sur le tapis blanc duveteux.
Les corps de James et Miaouss étaient secoués de frisson malgré les épaisses doudounes qu'il portaient. Il faut dire qu'un vent glacial tempétueux accompagnait la neige et leur soufflait dessus à toute volée mais la jeune femme ne semblait pas du tout souffrir du froid, au contraire.
Elle courrait en tout sens en gloussant, dansant parmi les flocons comme si elle n'était encore qu'une toute petite fille indisciplinée. Parfois elle se laissait tomber sur le tapis blanc et s'y roulait ou y agitait ses bras pour former des "anges". La « magie de l’hiver blanc » lui faisait retrouver son enfance emportée trop tôt.
Cela faisait maintenant près de trois quart d'heure que James et Miaouss obervaient leur amie s'amuser seule en restant plantés comme deux piqués, transis par le froid. Depuis le temps qu'ils restaient campés là, ils commençaient à ne plus sentir leurs orteils.
« Jessie, quand est-ce qu'on rentre? Je commence à avoir vraiment froid » se plaignit James finalement « En plus, la nuit ne va plus tarder et j'aimerais beaucoup savourer un bon chocolat chaud à la maison. »
« Oh mais arrête donc un peu de te plaindre trouble-fête et profite de ce temps merveilleux pour t'amuser!!! » répliqua la jeune femme en ramassant une grosse poignée de neige pour former une boule. Elle l'envoya dans le visage de son ami. James vacilla, quasiment propulsé en arrière par la violence (et la froideur) du choc glacial.
« Elle cherche la guerre. Moi à ta place je ne resterais pas sans réaction, je me vengerais. » glissa Miaouss à l'oreille de son compagnon masculin en grimpant jusqu'à son épaule. « Montre lui que tu n'es pas une mauviette. »
Motivé par la remarque du pokémon, le jeune homme accepta la proposition et se pencha à son tour pour ramasser de la neige. Quand il se releva, il esquiva de justesse un second tir de sa compagne et en profita pour lui envoyer une boule dans le portrait à son tour et il visa juste!
Jessie ne s'était certainement pas attendue à reçevoir une telle riposte de la part de James, cela l’a mit particulièrement en colère.
« N'espère pas t'en tirer à si bon compte! Tu ne perds rien pour attendre!!! » Grogna t'elle en ramassant une nouvelle motte de cristaux blancs. Elle la fit rouler contre le sol pour la faire grossir suffisamment puis tourna sur elle même comme elle le ferait pour effectuer un lancer de pokéball et enfin, elle projeta sa gigantesque boule de neige d’un geste magistral en direction de son ami, qui cette fois encore, l’esquiva ; la faisant redoubler de colère.
La jeune furie n’était pas du genre à se laisser abattre. Pour augmenter ses chances de réussir à toucher son équipier masculin elle fit sortir son Qulbutoké en lui demandant de participer au jeu avec elle.
Malheureusement la chance n’était pas au rendez-vous, peut importe le nombre de boules de neiges expédiées, malgré l’attaque riposte du pokémon qui renvoyait tour à tour tout ce qui lui était adressé ; chaque tir envoyé par James finissait par frapper Jessie à pleine volée.
Miaouss était plié de rire à la vue de la baguarre de ses deux compagnons et par l’énergie qu’ils dépensaient tous les deux pour essayer de se vaincre l’un l’autre ; ces deux là n'étaient vraiment que deux grands enfants.
Lorsque Jessie ne réussit pas à éviter un énième tir de James sa rage finit par éclater. Il était hors de question pour elle que ce brigand s’en tire en si bon compte en lui prouvant qu'il était un lanceur plus doué. Il fallait qu'elle trouve une meilleure façon de se venger de lui. Soudain une idée lui traversa l'esprit.
« C'est bon, ça suffit, je me rend James! On arrête tout!!!! » hurla t'elle, mettant fin à la bataille. Elle appela ses deux compagnons pokémon: « Miaouss, Qulbutoké, venez immédiatement j'ai quelque chose à vous dire!!! »
James la regarda fièrement battre retraite, en souriant d'un air satisfait, les bras croisés.
« Haha! Elle ne me croyait pas si fort. » pensait-il, fier de lui, « Maintenant, telle que je la connais elle va chercher un prétexte pour justifier sa défaite devant Miaouss et Qulbutoké, je me demande bien ce qu'elle leur invente. »
Mais en réalité Jessie ne racontait pas quelque chose pour se justifier d'avoir perdu, elle complotait une vengeance.
« Vous avez bien compris? » demanda t'elle à voix haute après avoir finit de chuchoter son plan aux oreilles des pokémon.
« ... ooooké... »
Miaouss se contenta de ricanner, ne laissant rien filtrer de la sournoiserie.
« Très bien. Dans ce cas, allons à la maison. » fit Jessie en s'avançant tranquillement en direction de James suivie de ses deux accolytes pokémon.
Le jeune homme soulagé fit demi-tour pour se mettre à marcher en direction de la cabane, soulagé que le jeu ait enfin prit fin.
Subitemment, il se sentit poussé à terre par trois paires de mains et pattes qui le poussaient contre ses arrières. Il ne put pas retenir son équilibre et s'étala face contre neige.
« Que l'opération glaçons commence!! » s'écria Jessie en ôtant de force la doudoune de James. Il ne comprit pas tout de suite de quoi elle voulait parler jusqu'à ce qu'il sente qu'elle s'affairait à retirer son t-shirt de sous la ceinture de son pantalon d'uniforme. « Hé! Mais qu'est-ce que vous...? »
Un frisson glacial le parcouru lorsqu'une poignée de neige fut écrasée contre son dos.
« Ha non!!! Pas ça!!! » hurla t'il.
Il voulu se relever mais Miaouss et Qulbutoké s'assirent sur son dos pour l'en empêcher.
« Arrêtez!!! Arrêtez ça tout de suite!!! »
Il pleurnicha en s’agitant pour se libérer sans succès de l’emprise de ses trois camarades, paralysé par ses membres engourdis par le froid, sentant sa température corporelle chuter à toute allure alors que Jessie lui glissait de la neige partout sous les vêtements.
Le combat dura seulement deux ou trois minutes jusqu’à ce que Miaouss ne finisse par compatir.
« C'est bon, tu devrais t'arrêter là sinon il va finir par attraper froid. » fit-il prendre conscience à Jessie.
Réalisant que le chat pokémon n'avait pas tord, la jeune femme qui s'était également assise à califourchon sur son ami, le libéra de son emprise en même temps que Qulbutoké et Miaouss. Elle attrapa ensuite James par les bras et le força à se relever.
« Ca va ? Pas trop froid? »
La question était stupide. Evidemment le jeune homme était frigorifé. Il lutta pour se relever, le corps secoué de frissons.
« C... ce n'était pas drôle du tout... » pleurnicha-t-il, son uniforme blanc presqu’entièrement percé. Son corps était si engourdit qu’il ressentait encore à peine la piqûre désagréable d’un liquide glacial ruisselant au creux du dos.
« Ho ça va, tu ne vas mourir Mr le douillet, qu'est-ce que tu peux être frileux! »
En gromellant James ramassa sa doudoune qui était également toute recouverte de neige et en la refermant il croisa ses bras autour de son buste pour essayer vainement de retrouver un peu de chaleur. Pendant le trajet du retour, plus aucun mot ne fut échangé entre les amis mais Jessie et Miaouss laissèrent échapper quelques regards coupables en direction de leur pauvre ami grelottant.
De retour dans leur petite habitation, James accouru jusqu'au feu ouvert, il essaya d'ôter ses gants et ses bottes mais ses doigts étaient si gelés qu'il n'y arrivait même pas.
Prit de pitié, Miaouss partit chercher une serviette de bain et une couverture pour son ami. Jessie, qui était bien trop fière, le regardait faire, ne sachant pas exactement de quelle façon elle devait réagir. Une partie d'elle (celle qui l'incitait à avoir de l'affection pour James) lui commandait de prendre soin de lui mais l'autre partie d'elle (son extrême prétention) l'empêchait d'agir, de peur qu'elle montre de la faiblesse en lui donnant de l’attention. Finalement, en entendant James éternuer bruyamment elle laissa tout de même son souci prendre le dessus d’elle et décida de laisser sa fierté légèrement de côté.
« Ca va, je vais t'aider grand dadais. » soupira t'elle en s'accroupissant auprès du jeune homme gelé. Elle l'aida à retirer ses bottes puis ses gants et chaussettes détrempées, les jetant négligemment au sol autour d'elle puis elle se mit à frictionner les mains de James entre les sienne tandis que Miaouss enveloppait une couette autour des épaules de ce dernier. De son côté, Qulbutoké qui voulait également se rendre utile, entreprit d’aller chercher une tasse de chocolat chaud.
« Ne pense pas que j'ai prit pitié de toi, si je te soigne c'est simplement parce que je n'ai pas envie de me retrouver avec le fardeau d'un équipier malade sur les bras. » prétexta Jessie.
« pareil pour moi. » renchérit Miaouss en frictionnant les cheveux dégoulinants de leur équipier tremblant.
James sourit en regardant les doigts de son équipière entrelacer les siens. Il appréciait beaucoup reçevoir toute cette attention de la part de ses deux compères alors que ces derniers s'étaient pourtant montrés si désagréables quelques minutes auparavant. Il appréciait toute particulièrement la bienveillance très peu commune de Jessie et il comptait bien en profiter ; car il se doutait que ça ne durerait sûrement pas longtemps.
« Ca va, Mr le Prince Douillet n'a plus trop froid? » demanda Jessie d'un ton rèche.
« Oh si, j'ai l'impression d'avoir été attaqué par une horde de blizzarois. »
« Ca va, j'ai compris… » ronchonna Jessie. Ensuite elle s’exclama : « MIAOUSS APPORTE SON PYJAMA, s’il garde son uniforme plus longtemps il va finir par se transformer en glaçon et je doute que le boss appréciera de devoir lui donner un congé maladie!!! »
James laissa échapper un sourire satisfait en pensant que Jessie voulait se montrer encore plus bienveillante mais son expression enjouée eut vite fait d’être remplacée par de la surprise mélée à de la peur lorsque Jessie réagit d'une façon complètement contradictoire à ce qu’il s’était imaginé ; en le poussant au sol pour lui arracher tour à tour ses vêtements comme s'il n'était qu'une poupée de chiffon.
« Mais Jessie !!! Qu’est-ce que tu fais ?!!! Arrête !!!!!!! »
« Ferme-la et laisse toi faire !!! » ordonna la jeune femme en repoussant les bras de son compagnon qu’il agitait en tout sens.
« Mais Jessie, je peux le faire ! »
« VOILA !!! » fit la jeune femme triomphalement en admirant le jeune homme vêtu de son pyjama.
Le déshabillage de James orchestré par Jessie avait eu l'avantage d'être extrêmement rapide. En deux temps trois mouvement il avait troqué son uniforme humide contre un pyjama sec et agréable sans même avoir eut le temps de comprendre comment ce vêtement s'était retrouvé sur lui.
"Maintenant je suppose que tu es plus à l’aise… » bougonna Jessie.
« Je suppose que oui. » répondit simplement James.
« DANS CE CAS NE ME DEMANDE PLUS RIEN D'AUTRE!!!!!" rétorqua la demoiselle en poussant tout de même une tasse de cacao chaud sous le nez de son ami. (Tasse dont Qulbutoké avait renversé la moitié du contenu pendant son trajet de retour de la cuisine.)
Mais de toute façon James ne comptait pas en demander plus. Il bénéficiait maintenant de tout ce qui faisait son bonheur : de quoi remplir un peu son estomac et un peu de chaleur ; pas seulement prodiguée par le feu, son pyjama chaud ou la couverture que lui avait apportée Miaouss mais par le corps de Jessie qui bien que bougonne, s'était collée contre lui en enveloppant son bras autour de ses épaules.
Et Jessie avait encore une excuse toute trouvée pour justifier cette nouvelle bonne attention. « A te voir frissonner autant, ça m'a donné froid. Maintenant tu as intérêt à me réchauffer à ton tour. » prétexta t'elle en s'enveloppant en partie dans la couverture qui recouvrait James « MIAOUSS APPORTE MOI UNE TASSE DE CACAO CHAUD ET QUE CA SAUTE !!! »
Le chat pokémon exécuta le désir de son équipière en deux temps trois mouvements puis comme il commençait à se faire tard et qu’il ne voulait plus servir d’avantage de larbin pour Jessie, il décida de laisser le couple seul en se trouvant un endroit douillet où dormir un peu plus loin, de même que Qulbutoké qui rejoignit sa pokéball. Il faut croire que Jessie et James trouvaient leur place assis au sol en face du feu suffisamment confortable.
Après avoir regardé pendant un moment les braises crépitant dans le brasier ouvert, la tête posée contre l'épaule de son équipière qui l'avait laissé faire, James cilla plusieurs fois puis tomba endormi. Peu de temps après lui, Jessie sentit ses paupières s'allourdirent et se laissa tomber sur le sol, entraînant son ami qui ne se détacha pas de sa position, blottit contre elle.
La froideur du combat dans lequel les deux compères s’étaient affrontés dans la soirée s’était complètement évaporée grâce à la chaleur du câlin qu’ils partageaient maintenant tous les deux à l'image de leurs sentiments secrets.
